27 April – Hildegard Björck becomes the first Swedish woman to complete an academic degree.
In accordance with the recommendations of the progressive Girl School Committee of 1866, girl schools who meets the demands are given governmental support.^[1]
In accordance with the Girl School Committee of 1866, Wallinska skolan becomes the first girl school permitted to issue first professional degrees to females.^[2]
