Upsilon Piscium (Upsilon Psc, υ Piscium, υ Psc) is a star approximately 310 light years away from Earth, in the constellation Pisces. It is bluish-white star of the spectral type A3V. It has a surface temperature of 7,500 to 11,000 kelvins, and is approximately the same size as the Sun, yet is much hotter and brighter. It has a rotational velocity of 93 kilometers per second at the equator.[2]

Naming

In Chinese, 奎宿 (Kuí Sù), meaning Legs (asterism), refers to an asterism consisting of refers to an asterism consisting of υ Piscium, η Andromedae, 65 Piscium, ζ Andromedae, ε Andromedae, δ Andromedae, π Andromedae, ν Andromedae, μ Andromedae, β Andromedae, σ Piscium, τ Piscium, 91 Piscium, φ Piscium, χ Piscium and ψ¹ Piscium. Consequently, υ Piscium itself is known as 奎宿十三 (Kuí Sù shí sān, English: the Thirteenth Star of Legs.)[3]
