The Targu Mures Metropolitan Area is a metropolitan area in Targu Mures, Romania. It was founded in 2005. The Targu Mures Metropolitan Area had a population of 243,730 as of 2011 census. It is Romania's only metropolitan area where Hungarians form the largest ethnic group, in total of 131,288 (53.9%), the Romanians form less than the half of the total population, that means 100,256 (41.1%) and the rest is 12,180 (5.0%) including Roma, Germans, Jews and more.
