The Tanzer 26 is a Canadian sailboat, that was designed by Johann Tanzer and first built in 1985. The design is out of production.[1][2]

Production

Production of the boat was commenced in 1985 by Tanzer Industries of Dorion, Quebec and 960 boats were completed. The company entered bankruptcy in May 1986 and production ended.[1][3]

Design

The Tanzer 26 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, a transom-hung rudder and a fixed fin keel or optionally, a shoal-draft keel. It displaces 4,200 lb (1,905 kg) and carries 1,650 lb (748 kg) of ballast.[1][2]

The boat was built with a standard keel that gives a draft of 4.70 ft (1.43 m). A shoal-draft keel with a draft of 2.82 ft (0.86 m), was a factory option. Most examples built were powered by an outboard motor, but an inboard-mounted Japanese-built Yanmar Diesel engine was optional.[1]

The boat has a PHRF racing average handicap of 216. It has a hull speed of 6.36 kn (11.78 km/h).[2]
