Sumerduck is a small rural village located equidistant between Fredericksburg, Culpeper, and Warrenton, in Fauquier County in the U.S. state of Virginia.

Sumerduck was named from the fact ducks flocked here in the summer.[1] Sumerduck is home to the major portion of C.F.Phelps Wildlife Management Area, with several entrances to the reserve off of the major thoroughfare, Va Route 651.[2] Sumerduck is also home to Rogers Ford Farm Winery and Smith's Antiques.[3][4]

The Sumerduck Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.[5]

Phelps Pond

This area has many good fishing opportunities at Phelps Pond as well as Kelly's Ford which is located on the Rappahanock River. Phelps Pond has a very high concentration in Bluegill, Sunfish, Carp and Bass but also holds Channel Catfish. The Rappahanock River at Kelly's Ford is a know area to catch big Small mouth bass but also has many other species such as Rock Bass, Sunfish, Crappie, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Suckers and Carp. Kelly's Ford has a boat ramp where you could launch a Kayak if Kayak fishing is your preference.
