Nizamabad-Peddapalli railway line is a single broad gauge railway line in the Indian state of Telangana. It connects Nizamabad city which is the headquarters of Nizamabad district (Hyderabad Division) to Peddapalli town in Peddapalli district (Secunderabad Division) under South Central Railway zone. It shortens the distance between Nizamabad and Peddapalli (177 km) when compared to earlier alternative route of Nizamabad-Secunderabad-Kazipet-Peddapalli (370 km). This line directly connects the cities of Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Warangal.[1]

As of March 2016, the work for the railway line is in the final stage, the remaining 1 kilometer stretch near Nizamabad Railway Station is under construction, which after its completion would make this line fully operational, and commercial operations would begin in December this year. Peddapalli Railway station is located on Kazipet-Ballarshah section of Delhi-Chennai line which is known as Grand Trunk line while Nizamabad Railway Station is located on Secunderabad-Manmad railway line.

At Present, four services are running between Jagityal and Peddapalli sections like Karimnagar - Tirupathi Superfast Express, Jagityal - Karimnagar Demu, Jagityal - Peddapalli Demu and Karimnagar - Sirpur Demu.

History

Peddapalli-Karimnagar-Nizamabad railway line (177 km) was sanctioned by P.V. Narasimha Rao,[2] 10th Prime Minister of India in the year of 1994.[1] Peddapalli-Karimnagar railway line completed and train service was started in 2001. Karimnagar-Jagityal line is completed and demu service has started in 2007. At present, the railway line is completed up to Armoor in Nizamabad District. Another 25 km line has to be laid to complete this line and this line will be fully operational by March 2016.

Future

Once completed, Nizamabad railway station would become a junction and will have direct connectivity to national capital New Delhi and the distance between Nizamabad and Delhi shall be reduced to a large extent. Karimnagar and Warangal will pave its way into Secunderabad-Manmad line which passes through Nizamabad and can have direct connectivity to Mumbai.
