St. Petersburg, Florida is the fifth largest city in Florida with a population of 252,372 as of 2014.[1] The city is home to 69 completed high rises (as of 2015),[2] and the most notable is the Priatek Plaza and Signature Place skyscrapers.[3]

The current tallest skyscraper in the city is the Priatek Plaza, formally known as One Progress Plaza and the Bank of America Tower.[4][5] The then called One Progress Plaza, was built in 1990 at a height of 117.65 m (386.0 ft) with 28 stories and serves as an A-Class commercial office tower, making the tower the tallest skyscraper in St. Petersburg and Pinellas County for more than 25 years.[6][7] The second tallest skyscraper and the tallest residential skyscraper in St. Petersburg is Signature Place standing at a height of 116.1 m (381 ft) with 36 stories and 243 residential units.[8][9] The Signature Place tower has been credited for being a major transition in St. Petersburg modern architecture and surviving the financial crisis of 2008's house market crash.[10]

St. Petersburg has recently seen an economic boom in luxury condos dating from the 1990's to early and late 2000's. The combination of tourism and wealthy residents attracted wanted large and mid sized condominiums.[11][12][13]
