List of tallest buildings in Argentina

The tallest buildings in Argentina are primarily residential and are almost all located in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital city and a major metropolitan area within South America.[1] Most of the buildings were completed after 2000, with some notable exceptions being the Kavanagh building, an Art Deco skyscraper completed in 1936, and the Alas Building, commissioned by President Juan Perón in 1950 and completed in the late 1950s.[2]

On September 10, 2014, President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner also announced the awarding of a contract to construct a 335-metre-tall building, the "Polo Audiovisual", in Buenos Aires to serve as the headquarters of the biggest film-making studios in Latin America. The building was planned to be the tallest in Latin America,[3] but as of 2016 the project remains in limbo.

Tallest buildings

This list ranks completed and topped out buildings in Argentina that stand at least 390 feet (119 m) tall, based on standard height measurement. This includes spires and architectural details but does not include antenna masts. An equal sign (=) following a rank indicates the same height between two or more buildings. An asterisk (*) indicates that the building is still under construction, but has been topped out. The "Year" column indicates the year in which a building was completed.

 At the time of construction, it was the tallest building in Latin America and the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the world.[66] It was declared a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1994[67] and a National Historic Monument by the Argentine government in 1999.[68][69] In the year of its completion the building obtained the Municipal Award for Collective Houses and Facades and three years later its facade received a similar award from the American Institute of Architects.[70][71][72]
