Footnotes

  1. Spectacular failure of Chaos Crew's hydraulics.
  2. First recorded dragster race in reverse.
  3. The Martial Mechanics, Archimedes Screw design, worked perfectly on both their 1st and 2nd runs, up until the last 10-20m and then both times, veered to the left due to a broken drive shaft on one side, and hit a small concrete object.
  4. The most spectacular failure of a machine so far – the Barley Pickers' trebuchet jammed and completely destroyed itself.
  5. Hot Property's tank never worked.
  6. The Anoraks avoided the 'no four-wheel-drive' rule by instead building a six-wheel-drive machine.
  7. Famous for the accidental firing of their device, by a Scrapheap Challenge Official.
  8. The Thirsty Knights rescued their expert from the island, but upon reaching the lake banks, accidentally set him adrift on their craft.
  9. Scrapheap Mega Challenge. Celebrating 200 years since the Pen-y-Darren steam loco of Richard Trevithick.
The 3 teams had to build locomotives (1 diesel, 1 electric and 1 steam) and have them do a timed haulage and sprint test over a 1/4 mile course.
The steam locomotive matched the electric in round 1 (haulage) before beating it in 2.
