The Australia national soccer team represents Australia in international soccer (association football). It is fielded by Football Federation Australia (FFA), the governing body of soccer in Australia, and competes as a member of the Asian Football Confederation, having previously been a part of the Oceania Football Confederation.

Despite the first Australia international game taking place on 17 June 1922, the first player to reach 50 caps for the side was Peter Wilson, who played his 50th game against Israel on 3 November 1976. His final match, and 65th cap, was the 1–0 loss to New Zealand on 13 June 1979. Wilson's record stood for over a decade, until Paul Wade overtook his tally when he appeared for Australia against Tahiti on 20 September 1992. Wade eventually retired having amassed 84 caps, his last on 1 November 1996 also against Tahiti. Wade's record was soon broken by Alex Tobin on 2 October 1998, once again in a match against Tahiti. Tobin would only add two further appearances for Australia, the last of these coming in a friendly against United States on 6 November 1998.

Mark Schwarzer broke Tobin's record, his 88th cap coming in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup Final against Japan on 29 January 2011. Schwarzer went on to make a total of 109 appearances before retiring from international football in 2014, the last of these coming on 7 September 2013. He is currently the only Australian man to have made over 100 international appearances.
