Lev Milchin

Lev Isaakovich Milchin (Russian: Лев Исаакович Мильчин, 1920—1987) was a Soviet animated film director, art director and painter. He was also a pedagogue and Honoured Artist of the RSFSR.

He was a prototype for the main character (film director) for Film, Film, Film.

Biography

He was born in a family of the artist Isaak Iosifovich Milchin. He graduated from the Minsk art school and art faculty of the VGIK. In the period of the Great Patriotic War was in a militia, after — on CIFS (Almaty) the artist of several game movies. After the end of war he worked at Soyuzmultfilm studio as the art director of the drawn and stop-motion movies (with such directors, as I. P. Ivanov-Vano, M. M. Tsekhanovskiy, Z. S. Brumberg, V. S. Brumberg, V. I. Polkovnikov, A. G. Snezhko-Blotskaya, A. G. Karanovich). During 1957-62 "Mosfilm", and since 1962 — on "Soyuzmultfilm", as the director and the art director worked at a film studio. I taught in the VGIK. He worked in book graphics. ASIFA's member. He is buried in Moscow, on the Mitinskoe Cemetery (site 126).
