LeMel Humes is an American composer, record producer and songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. He has produced several albums, including Miki Howard’s Come Share My Love,[1] Stephanie Mills Home, Ray Charles’s My World etc. He has worked with Warner Bros. Music Publishing and further with Virgin Music, Ltd. as staff songwriter.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

Early life

LeMel Humes was born on November 10 1959 in Buffalo New York and son of Entrepreneur Emanuel I. Humes Sr. And Lillie M. Humes.

Emanuel I. Humes Sr. Is in Who’s Who in Black America. Also one of Black Enterprises Top 100 Black businesses in America from 1973 - 1985. His mother opened one of the first mega hair salons in the country in 1962 Humes Styles & Beauty.

LeMel Humes studied Civil engineering at The University Of Buffalo, he went on to work for his father’s construction company Humes Construction and Sullivan - Humes Painting contractors. Some of the projects built were the Buffalo Hilton, The Buffalo Marriott and The Buffalo City Mission. During his time as a construction job manager building the Sullivan County Maximum correctional facility for his family business.
