John Salavantis was the 22nd head college football coach for the Ottawa University Braves located in Ottawa, Kansas and he held that position for the 1978 season. His career coaching record at Ottawa was 7 wins, 3 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 20th at Ottawa in total wins and fifth at Ottawa in winning percentage (0.700).[1]

He later served as an assistant coach in the Canadian Football League. Currently, Salavantis serves as the radio colour analyst on AM 900 CHML for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
