Gletsch

Gletsch (1,759 m) is a hamlet in the German-speaking half of the canton of Wallis, located in the upper Rhone valley, a few kilometres south of the Rhone Glacier itself the headwaters of the Rhone river. It belongs to the municipality of Obergoms.

Gletsch lies at the crossroads of the Grimsel Pass (leading to the Bernese Oberland) and the Furka Pass (leading to Central Switzerland). The Gletsch railway station is operated by the Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway.
