Ernestinovo (German: Ernestinenhof) is a municipality in Osijek-Baranja county, Croatia. There are 2,225 inhabitants, 67% who are Croats, 22% who are Hungarians, and 8% who are Serbs.[1]
The municipality of Ernestinovo also includes adjacent villages of Divoš and Laslovo.
Ernestinovo also has some people of German descent, although most of the German inhabitants were expelled in 1944.[2]
North of Ernestinovo lies the major HEP Substation TS Ernestinovo, which was originally built in 1977 as the first 400 kV station in Croatia. It is connected with long-distance power lines to TS Tumbri/Žerjavinec (Zagreb) and Pécs, Hungary. It had been damaged in the Croatian War of Independence in 1991, but was fully repaired in 2004.[3]
