Engineering House

Engineering House, also known as EH or E-House, is a Special Interest House devoted to RIT students studying or interested in the various disciplines of engineering. Engineering House was established in 1971 and has a wide network of members and alumni. Engineering House is currently located on the eighth floor of Nathaniel Rochester Hall, one of the dorm hall facilities located on RIT's campus.

Academic facilities

Engineering House has a lounge known as the "Study Lounge" that is devoted solely to academic resources, which include a library of textbooks pertaining to engineering, whiteboards, and a table wired for electricity and Ethernet. E-House also has a workshop that comes stocked with tools and materials that are available for personal or class projects for all members.

Leadership

Engineering House has a set of elected leaders, known as the Executive Board. The positions on this governing body include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Executive Board acts as a second R.A., in contrast to other residential floors associated with RIT Housing Operations, which have two R.A.s.

Recreational facilities

Engineering House has a small movie theater, complete with a projector and comfortable multi-level seating. In addition, EH also has a pool lounge, which serves as the social hub for the floor. It contains a pool table, surround sound system, and the MAME, an arcade game machine that contains hundreds of arcade games, both classic and modern.

Projects

One of the most foundational traditions of Engineering House is the completion of collaborative projects that showcase the engineering capabilities of floor members. Every year, the freshmen of E-House complete a project that betters the floor in some way, while the floor as a whole completes multiple projects to present at Imagine RIT. Some previous projects include:

Events

Engineering House has several traditional events for its members throughout the year, including an annual winter skiing trip to Mont Tremblant Resort, an annual spring camping trip to Letchworth State Park, and the end-of-the-year Engineering House Formal. In addition to these, Engineering House will frequently attend or participate in campus events or attend campus functions, such as attending blood drives or one of the many shows RIT puts on.
