Diego Castrillón

Diego Castrillón (born 8 January 1975) was an Uruguayan basketball player. He played for Malvin from 1992-1996, Cordon from 1997-1998 and in Defensor Sporting from 1999 until his retirement in 2014,in the Liga Uruguaya de Basketball. He played as a small-power forward. He won the Championship of Uruguay in 2003, 2004 and in 2009-10, all of them with Defensor Sporting. He also was runner up in 1997 and 1998 with Cordon against Club Atlético Welcome both times, and with Defensor Sporting was runner up in 2008-09 against Bigua, in season 2012-13 against Aguada and in the season 2013-14 against Malvin. He played for the National Team of Uruguay since 1991 with junior team U16, U22 in 1996, and from 1999 in the senior National Team. He played South American Championship in 1999 in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. In 2001 in Valdivia, Chile and in 2006 in Caracas, Venezuela, were the team was runner up against Brazil. He was the captain of the team in this championship. Also played in Puerto Mont, Chile,in 2008, were the National team was runner up against Argentina. That was his last competition with Uruguay National Team. Diego Castrillon also played the Tournament of the Americas with Uruguay National Team, in 1999 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 2001 in Neuquen, Argentina and in 2005 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. With Defensor Sporting he played Liga de Las Americas in 2007-08, 2010-11. And the Liga Sudamericana in 2001, 2002 (bronze medal), 2010 and in 2014.

In 2010 he start coach juniors team at Defensor Sporting. First with U13, from 2010 until 2012. In 2013 he coach U15 and from 2014 he is coaching U18 and U20. In 2015 he coach Nacional at the Metropolitan Tournament.
