The Government College of Engineering Karunagappally - CEK (Malayalam : കോളേജ് ഓഫ് എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ് , കരുനാഗപ്പള്ളി - സി.ഇ.കെ ) is a Public institute of engineering and technology established by Government of Kerala in 1999, located in Karunagappally North West of Kollam(Quilon) district in the state of Kerala, India.It is one of the Top ranked engineering college in Kerala. The College of Engineering Karunagappally[1](Abbreviated CEK ) is the second Engineering College in Kollam district & Fourth Engineering College under the aegis Institute of Human Resource Development for Electronics , IHRDE (Now IHRD) [2] A Govt of Kerala Department. The institute affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology, (CUSAT),Kochi.[3] ( Up to 2014 Batch ) , As of 2015 batch onwards CEK is affiliated to A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University, Trivandrum[4] as per the Order of Higher education Govt. of Kerala

TEQIP II[5] Enabled Engineering College (Project of Govt. of India & World Bank in Technical Education ) This project available only for some of the MHRD selected technical institute in India. CEK has been selected in TEQIP II under component 1, sub-component 1.1 for Strengthening institutions to improve learning outcomes and employability of graduates [6]

The college began operations in 1999, Inaugurated by Sri. E K Nayanar (Honorable Chief Minister of Kerala). Among the engineering institutions under IHRD , CEK has the Largest campus by area (28 acre).The Students of our institute informally Known as "CEKians" and the alumni are called "XCEKians" . The college offers four undergraduate program and two postgraduate programmes in the field of engineering and technology.

Foundation and Vision

The history of CEK traces it's roots to the former Minister of Food, Tourism,Law & Civil Supplies[7] Sri. E Chandra Sekharan Nair who was the 10th Kerala Legislative Assembly Member represented Karunagappally. He put a proposal to the Government of Kerala to start a engineering institute in kollam district also he suggested to start the college in Karunagappally under the auspices of Institute of human resource development (IHRD)
