Chipao District is one of twenty-one districts of the province Lucanas in Peru.[1]

Geography

Some of the highest mountains in the district are Rasuwillka and Qarwarasu. Other mountains are listed below:[2]

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (73.03%) learnt to speak in childhood, 26.54% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
