Vilcas Huamán Province is a province in the eastern part of the Ayacucho Region in Peru.
Boundaries
- North: Huamanga Province
- East: Apurímac Region
- South: Sucre Province
- West: Cangallo Province and Víctor Fajardo Province
Political division
The province is divided into eight districts (Spanish: distritos, singular: distrito), each of which is headed by a mayor (alcalde). The districts, with their capitals in parenthesis, are:
- Vilcas Huamán (Vilcashuamán)
- Accomarca (Accomarca)
- Carhuanca
- Concepción
- Huambalpa
- Independencia
- Saurama
- Vischongo (Vischongo)

Ethnic groups
The people in the province are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (89.62%) learnt to speak in childhood, 10.06% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[1]
