Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (born 2 August 1995) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the New Zealand Warriors in the National Rugby League. Nicoll-Klokstad is a utility player who can fill in any position in the backline. He is a Cook Islands international representative. As well as the Cook Islands and New Zealand, he is also eligible to represent Norway at international level.

Background

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Nicoll-Klokstad is of Cook Islands, Māori and Norwegian descent.[2] Nicoll-Klokstad played his junior football for Mount Albert Lions, Richmond Rovers and City Newton Dragons in New Zealand before moving to Melbourne, Australia as a 15-year old, playing for the Altona Roosters before being signed by the Melbourne Storm.[3] In 2013, Nicoll-Klokstad played for the Storm's S.G Ball team.[4]

Playing career

Nicoll-Klokstad played for the Melbourne Storm's NYC team in 2014 and 2015, playing in 37 matches and scoring 16 tries.[5] In 2014, Nicoll-Klokstad received Melbourne’s NYC back of the year and receiving the Greg Brentnall Young Achievers’ Award. On 17 October 2015, Nicoll-Klokstad represented Cook Islands in their World Cup qualification match against Tonga, playing on the wing and scoring the first try of the match in the Cook Islands 28-8 loss at Campbelltown Stadium.[6] On 23 October 2015, Nicoll-Klokstad signed with the New Zealand Warriors on a 2-year deal, starting from 2016.[7]

In September 2016, Nicoll-Klokstad was named at centre in the 2016 Intrust Super Premiership NSW Team of the Year.[8]
