Chandrapur Municipality other names Chandranigahapur locally known as Chapur is a Municipality in Rautahat District in the Narayani Zone of southern Nepal. The municipality was established on 18 May 2014 by merging Chandranigahapur, Judibela, Paurai, Santpur Matioun, Dumariya Matioun Village development committee.[1][2]

At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 13,456 people living in 2465 individual households.

History

This town was actually named under the late Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher. People started to live here after the naming of this place.

Development activities

In the remembrance of G.P. Koirala, the construction of Dabari Tourism Area cum Picnic Spot is going on. Cha.pur Hospital, Drinking water, Road Development, etc. are the development work going on in this town. BANKS in chapur=== Nepal SBI , Nepal Bank, ID Bank, Everest Bank,Jyoti bikash bank,Yeti development bank etc..There is also a picnic spot as well tourist place called "sahid smiriti park" near the bank of chadi river to promote the local tourism.At the centre of the park a list of name of people is kept those who contribute their life durring the 10 years of revolution(051/052-062/63) in stone script.

Sports

In this town many sports like volleyball, football and cricket is played. Rautahat Women Football team is the best women team over Nepal. Sher Bahadur Thapa Magar of Chandranigahapur should be credited for women soccer accomplishment in Rautahat. His dedication and effort in the field of soccer is unmatched by anyone in Nepal. Besides this martial arts like karate, khusti etc. is practiced.

Education

There are many private and public schools and colleges. Local residents do not have to go outside the town for their education. Some of the schools and colleges are Jan Jyoti Multiple Campus,Om college,Shree subhlal bhagwat uchha madhyamic bidhyalaya Moonlight Academy Higher Secondary School, Bal Niketan Higher Secondary School, Namuna Secondary English Boarding School,chandra jyoti english awasiya school,mount everest secondary school, terai zone academy, samat public school, paurai baba academy(montesorri), durga madhyamic bidhyalaya, basanta pancami school.

Occupation- As we know, Nepal is landlocked country and many people engage in agriculture. Likewise, many people here are also engaged in agriculture. Others are engaged in service, trade.etc.

tourism- here we have a famous picnic spot "NUNTHER" on the eastern side of municipality which lies at the bank of bagmati river. the picni spot lies at chure hill and is one of the best spot for picnic. at chapur, lies a sahid smriti parka at the bank of chandi river.. many hotels lodges and resturents are here ..

Radio: To Promote local culture Chandranigahapur has two FM radio station Radio Nunthar F.M. - 102.6 MHz Which is a Community radio Station. Gunjan fm -105.3 Mhz is another fm station in chandranigahapur..
