Ballet Memphis is a ballet company in Memphis, Tennessee. Ballet Memphis is the region's largest professional ballet company. Ballet Memphis performed at the Orpheum Theatre and at the Clark Opera Memphis Center in East Memphis prior to the completion of its own venue in 2010. Ballet Memphis has existed for about three decades and strives to interpret the South's cultural legacy through dance. Ballet Memphis presentations feature both classical and modern dance choreography. The Ballet Memphis building was designed by Memphis architect James F. Williamson. The Ford Foundation awarded Ballet Memphis one of its challenge grants in 2001 and praised the organization as a national treasure of the cultural world.
