BF International Village

BF International Village is a barangay in the first district of Las Piñas, Metro Manila, Philippines. Created through the Presidential Decree No. 1334 in 1978, Barangay BF International Village was the third of the three-part division of barangays Pulang Lupa and Talon, with the primary aim of accelerating the socio-economic development program by its officials.

BF International Village currently has a population of 69,660 people spread over 216.65 hectares of land. The Barangay has a total 60,000 households, 20,000 families, 50,000 registered voters and 251 precincts. Barangay BF International Village earned a total revenue of Php 33, 112, 846.00 and collected an annual tax of Php 321,000.00 for the year 2014.

BF International Village is bordered by Gatchalian Village-Barangay Manuyo II to the north; San Antonio V7-Barangay Pulanglupa II to the east; Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City on the west; and J. Aguilar Ave., Barangay Pamplona III to the south. It is managed by Honorable Asuncion “Sony“ C. Aguilar, the current Barangay Captain. Along with seven Kagawad and several volunteer Tanod, the barangay official is determined to hasten socio-economic development, uphold citizen morale, and maintain peace and order.

History

BF International Village was created by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1334 on April 3, 1978. The third of the three-part division of Barangay Pulang Lupa, it was created primarily to accelerate the pace socio-economic development program by its officials.[1]

Bordered by Gatchalian Village-Barangay Manuyo II to the north; San Antonio V7-Barangay Pulang Lupa II to the east; Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City on the west; and J. Aguilar Ave., Barangay Pamplona III to the south., BF International Village has five official exits and entries namely the J. Aguilar Ave., CAA Rd. coming and leading Alabang-Zapote Rd., Pamplona, Las Piñas City. The Evacom-Canaynay Rd. is coming and leading to San Dionisio, Baclaran and Sucat, Parañaque City, Southland, Talon I and Concha Cruz, Almanza Uno.

BF International Village is now a highly urbanized Barangay. From flooded and muddy streets, 97% of its roads, pathways and alleys are concreted with a good drainage system. Facilities include one Lying-in Center, four Health Centers, four Covered Courts, two Public Elementary School, two Public High School, one Police Community Precinct, four Solid Waste Management Centers, 30 Barangay Volunteer Tanod Outposts, Senior Citizen’s Office and Person With Disability office, one Reading Center, 12 Day Care Centers, one Multipurpose Hall and one Barangay Hall Bldg.

As urban development’s come from the neighboring barangay and cities, the majority of the residents are among the second class, middle earners, and small-scale entrepreneurs.

Today, like other local government units, Barangay BF International Village enjoys total independence in managing, deciding, and planning its own administrative, fiscal and development affairs, aimed at uplifting the quality of life of its growing constituents.

Economy

Southville International School and Colleges or SISC is a private, non-sectarian school founded by Dr. Genevieve Ledesma-Tan. Chosen by the Philippine Department of Education as a "School of the Future" in January 1997, SISC is recognized as a school of International Character through the promulgation of Philippine Republic Act 9493.

Southville International School and Colleges has adopted Brgy BF International Village as its community and prioritizes it as the primary beneficiary in all of its outreach activities. SCION has four notable projects for the adopted community through the COPE. As a start, SISC donated some equipment to the Day Care Center such as computers, television set, DVD players, chairs, and tables. The SISC community has been grouped to take care of the following projects: Save a Poor Urban Child (PoUCh) which gives the students a set of school supplies each. They will be given daily snacks and they will be the priority in the medical-dental mission. The day Care Center teachers will be given free professional training and the SISC teachers and BS Education (major in Special education) will co-teach with the Day Care Center teachers. Starting and managing Small Scale Industries to be spearheaded by the Business college group, Environmental Sanitation awareness and practice to be led by the BS Information, Mass Com, and Multimedia groups, and the Bed-SpEd group that will conduct Tutorial for the 4th year students so they can pass the scholarship exam in Don Filemon Aguilar College. The BS Nursing will be the lead group in the Medical Missions and in the Feeding Program of the students in the Day Care Center while the Psychology group will launch their Family Relations Enhancement Counseling. In addition, SISC has also granted scholarships in the SISC College to deserving students from the adopted community.[2]
