Implings are Hunter creatures that are featured in the minigame Impetuous Impulses. They are mainly found in Puro-Puro, but they can be found commonly across Gielinor. Higher level requirement implings typically have more valuable loot.

Players must wield a butterfly net or magic butterfly net and have an empty impling jar in their inventory to be able to catch implings, the impling caught will be placed into the jar which can then be opened or sold to the Grand Exchange for coins. Players can also catch implings barehanded and without impling jar but must be 10 levels above the requirement for catching that impling (for example, ninja implings barehanded requires level 84 Hunter instead of the normal 74). Implings caught barehanded will be looted immediately. Barehanded catching does not work in Puro-Puro, however if you have a jar in your inventory, you can barehand the impling into the jar.

Three empty implings jars can be acquired from Elnock Inquisitor in Puro-Puro for any type of jarred impling. This can be a good use for young and baby implings, given their low value loot. They can also be generated with a jar generator (33 jars from a generator, one at a time).

Implings have the ability to fly over any body of water or lava, but not over obstacles that can be labelled with a line on the minimap. They can occasionally teleport to a nearby area which can cause complications when inside some thick walls, for example the wall east of Taverley. This can make them impossible to catch and can only be fixed if the impling either teleports out or despawns. They can be found even in some isolated areas, such as Runecrafting altars.

A wandering impling roams around the large wheat field in Zanaris. He cannot be caught, but he introduces players to the Impetuous Impulses minigame in an eccentric manner and will show players the location of the two other portals outside of Puro-Puro. Another visually identical impling, Immenizz, can be found near the centre of Puro-Puro. He will explain briefly why implings might be hiding what humans may want. Fairy Aeryka is found near the wandering impling, and she will also give her version of what implings are, and what is in Puro-Puro.

Unlike most other hunter creatures, players can use the spells Bind, Snare, and Entangle to keep an impling from moving further away. This can be useful when in Puro-Puro, or to keep an impling from flying over a body of water.

Players can right-click their butterfly net or magic butterfly net to open the Impling Tracker, which tracks how many implings they have caught inside Puro-Puro and on the surface world. Implings that are caught barehanded are also tracked on this log.

Spawning[edit | edit source]

Implings found in Puro-Puro and Gielinor use a unique system for spawning, when caught implings respawn immediately always on their spawn tile. This spawn tile never changes. After spawning, they are invisible for roughly 2 minutes during which they are able to traverse and roam considerable distances. Once implings become visible, a high-pitched "beckon whistle" sound plays with a subtle rattling.

As implings have the ability to fly over usually impassable terrain such as water, "camping" a spawn is impractical unless multiple worlds are used or methods of prohibiting impling movement are used (such as using terrain and players to your advantage).

Implings have around 15 minutes to roam before they are despawned.

Force-Spawning[edit | edit source]

The best method to find the rarest and most valuable implings is to force-spawn them.

In Puro-Puro, higher tier implings (nature implings and above) can be found much more commonly than on Gielinor. This is because Puro-Puro has specific tiles which only spawn nature implings and higher.

As an example, to maximise the amount of dragon implings spawning, a player will want to catch all rare implings (nature, magpie, ninja) as these will have spawned from the higher tier spawn tiles, giving them a chance for a dragon impling to spawn. This is best done at either the northwest or southeast corners of Puro-Puro, and it is advised to hop between multiple worlds because of the 2 minute "respawn"-timer for these higher tier implings.
