[ Opis ] Gdzieś tam w kosmosie istnieje planeta. Tubylcy nazywają ją Sandy Planet. Cóż – bardziej właściwym określeniem byłoby jednak Planet of Idiots. W jednej z osad zamieszkują małoletni Aun (przeraźliwa, wiecznie zakochana idiotka) i Photon (małomówny prostaczek). Oboje obdarzeni zostali przez naturę niespotykanymi możliwościami. Chłopak w dzieciństwie otrzymał misję: ma chronić i opiekować się siostrą (? - przyjaciółką). Dzięki cechom charakteru obojga reszta populacji ma zapewnione stałe kłopoty. Ciągłe ucieczki z domu dziewczyny i pościgi wysyłanego za nią chłopaka powodują wszechobecną dewastację ciężkiej pracy innych ludzi. Podczas jednej z owych eskapad Photon dostaje się do wnętrza rozbitego statku kosmicznego. Tam budzi z hibernacji jego właścicielkę: Keyne Acqua. Prześliczne nagie dziewczę. Ba nie byłby sobą gdyby podczas jej snu nie nabazgrał jej na czole przy pomocy Świętego Artefaktu (który de-facto jest zwykłym flamastrem) słowa: BAKA. Obudzenie ślicznotki (a tym samym całego statku) ma jednak swe konsekwencje. W innej części Galaktyki czyha złowrogi Papacharino Nanadan (kolejny kretyn). Marzy on o przejęciu tajemniczego źródła energii („AHO” – kolejna aluzja), którym zasilany jest pojazd Keyne.

Anime ma już kilka lat. Widać to (brak wspomagania komputerowego), ale w niczym nie przeszkadza. Dla miłośników obejrzenia od czasu do czasu czegoś lżejszego stylistyka kreski, animacja i muzyka nie mają większego znaczenia. Liczy się pomysł a w Photon jest on świetny. Co prawda o durniach nakręcono kilka fajnych filmów (np.: Excel Saga, czy Slayers), lecz i tu będziemy mieć do czynienia z powalającą dawką dobrego humoru. Idealną rozrywką na ponure dni. Śledzenie przygód bohaterów dzięki doskonałemu scenariuszowi okazuje się być naprawdę satysfakcjonującą formą spędzania wolnego czasu.
Pomimo przynależności tego Anime do czasów „przedkomputerowych” nie ma problemów ani z ubogą szatą graficzną (rysunek i animacja stoją na wysokim poziomie), ani z ubogą ścieżką dźwiękową. Photon należy do dzieł wysokobudżetowych, co widać już od pierwszych ujęć. Obsada aktorska dobrana została nad podziw starannie, zatem oglądający nie powinni być zawiedzeni (jak to ma miejsce przy np.: Yatterman Remake).
Dodatkową zaletą wersji przeze mnie prezentowanej jest tłumaczenie. Osobnik znany jako niizk dał już wielokrotnie powody do pochwał pod jego adresem. Nie inaczej jest i tym razem. Translacji jak i samemu wyglądowi subów trudno cokolwiek zarzucić.

Szczerze zachęcam do zapoznania się z Photon: The Idiot Adventure. Dobra rozrywka w porządnej oprawie audio-wizualnej jest zapewniona.

[ Description ] The most idiotic anime I ever saw...and thats in a GOOD way.

Aun is an idiot. The name of the first episode is even worth the chuckles. Not to mention everyone else is an idiot, too. Photon is a funny-as-hell story with slapstick and goofiness that will keep you laughing: along with a decently built action-packed story.

A planet of baka...

Photon Earth, our measly-sized protagonist, is asked to bring his sister, Aun, from a most ludicrous journey. Soon, however, he runs into Keyne, a beautiful young explorer, searching for the source of "Aho" energy. With the villain, Papachan, scheming to use Keyne to obtain power, and the drool-worthy Princess Lashara crossing the universe to reach him, it seems that calamity will occur when they all get together. Grab onto your chair (as to not fall off laughing), an adventure among idiots is about to begin!

I tried my best to make it spoiler-free, but that is really the best analysis of the plot. The story is so simple, that understanding it takes little effort. The one difficulty lies in the study of the "Aho" energy; many details were left out, and often times the translation I had confused my understanding. Be aware of the simple plot, but difficult setting.

All of the episodes contained pointless violence, and enough slapstick to die from laughter. I recall several times having to pause to sit and "yuck-it-up." The first 3 episodes are nothing but endless humor, and the last 3 finally develop the story. A significant problem arose in the last episode - it introduced another character way too late, and also quickly sped up the sequence of events; although the fighting scenes were extremely good.

The characters were all in their voice acting.

The animation had a serious downside: the characters had too many goofy faces, and therefore some of the spoken humor lost its intensity because of the silly impressions. In spite of that, the animation retained one of the most "direct" approaches to media humor - making an intense scene look normal. For example, the way Keitaro in Love Hina gets punched is almost identical to the activity of Photon. The approach is so ironic that one cannot help but laugh. This is a masterpiece in the art of comedy.

The music, background music and voice acting are good, but the sounds effects are extraordinary. Often times, a lightly comic scene develops this gigantic wave of super-power. This effect wouldn`t have been as effective without the quirky and silly sounds which appear and reappear throughout the episodes.

What was most settling were the characters; none of them were at all very bright, and their baka-ness made the humor better and better as crazier incidents came along. Photon is the strong, silent type - but he`s still an idiot! Aun is an energetic moron, Keyne is redundantly feminine, Lashara is "blonde," (if not in hair-color, then in attitude), Papachan is an ignorant clown (and the funniest character to watch), and Pochi...well, umm Pochi is just really awkward:
Some Character:"Pochi! You worked all night on that "5 million brain crystals" sculpture, right?
Pochi:"No sir! I worked all last night on our cheerleading outfits!"
Some Character: "..."
Overall the characters are acceptable and are completed at the end of the story.

Nothing but idiots here...

But these are great idiots. Photon shows how idiots can be heroes/villains, too; in its own "special" way. I think I would rewatch this many, many times - the story is just too funny, and I would expect a lot of my friends to enjoy it. If there`s any downside to Photon`s humor, it`s probably because the animation suggests the attitude of American sarcasm, and therefore I believe Photon would be an American-hysteria influenced anime. Therefore, if you don`t like shows like Jackass, Saturday Night Live! or if you don`t appreciate any American humor (doesn`t mean your not American, of course ^_^;), you might find this story relatively childish or average.

Also, Photon has a very light, but serious "love story" angle to the presentation, and the amount of violence and nudity is relatively high. This is not silly childish entertainment in its peak form; it is an eccentric comedy for adults who want to see ecchi, blood and strange characters.

I recommend this to otakus(duh) and people who need a break from the same beaten-in drama that dominates our entertainment. If you need lots of laughs and some cheesy violence, look at this one.
