"Amelia" urzekła cały świat. Cudowny film, ale warto też pamiętać o ścieżce dźwiękowej do tego filmu, która podobnie jak film, urzeka. Yann Tiersen stworzył muzykę niesamowitą. Nie przy pomocy orkiestry, bez zbędnych chórków, bez żadnych nowoczesnych wstawek naśladujących nieudolnie wspołczesną muzykę rozrywkową. Zagrał za to na akordeonie, wibrafonie, fortepianie, mandolinie i kilku jeszcze innych instrumentach, które wydają się być czymś jakże archaicznym w świecie muzyki filmowej. Tutaj ten archaizm buduje wspaniały klimat. Klimat Montmartre, jego ciasnych starych uliczek po których przechadza się Amelia Poulain. Jest to muzyka francuska i czuć to w każdym momencie. Kiedy gra akordeon to nie na modłę rosyjską, rubaszną, ale ten instrument gra pięknie, romantycznie, subtelnie buduje francuski nastrój filmu jakbyśmy siedzieli w jakiejś kawiarni na jednej z paryskich ulic. Nie każdemu ów soundtrack przypadnie do gustu, ale jeśli ktos pokochał "Amelię" to ta muzyka będzie stanowiła wspaniałe dopełnienie doskonałości filmu.

The film Amelie depicts Paris as a magical paradise for lovers and so needed music of the utmost tenderness but with a quirky edge befitting the title character. Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet chanced upon the music of Yann Tiersen one day and bought his entire catalogue. That ultimately translated into this gloriously upbeat soundtrack largely culled from four of Tiersen's albums. Half the cues have been previously released, but arguably never in such splendid context. Accordion and piano are the score's instruments of choice and are woven into a beautiful whole none of the individual albums achieved before. The Neil Hannon collaboration ("Les Jours tristes" from L'Absente) is a big bouncy number that expands upon itself incessantly. It's about as big as the music gets, since this accompanied one of the jolliest moments in the film. The greater part is concerned with Amelie's innocent infatuations and is therefore subtler. A couple of nice examples of the album's overall style are "Sur le Fil", a lovely melancholy piano melody, and "La Dispute" where mournful solo accordion switches tone by piano. At the heart of it all is the best of Tiersen's new material for the film with "La Valse d'Amelie". It has three variations, but is most affecting in its original incarnation for accordion and small ensemble. It makes the film's finale, this disc and the idea of a trip to Paris utterly charming.

The soundtrack to Pierre Jeunet's charming, slightly surreal romantic comedy Amelie features music by Yann Tiersen. Just as the film presents an idyllic, idealized version of Paris, Tiersen's score captures the most romantic aspects of French music, complete with fluttering accordions, delicate harpsichords, mandolins, and poignant strings and pianos. Pieces like "J'y Suis Jamias Alle," "Le Moulin," "La Valse Des Monstres," and "Les Jours Tristes (Instrumental)" -- which features a toy piano -- convey the film's sweet, slightly skewed outlook perfectly, and are completely charming in their own right. Aside from the three variations on the heroine's theme, "La Valse d'Amelie," most of the score comes from Tiersen's other albums, making Amelie a fine introduction to his work as well as an appropriately winning soundtrack.
