Bardzo cenię sobie twórców sceny mających swój własny, charakterystyczny, oryginalny styl. Do takich twórców spokojnie mogę zaliczyć Izika Levy'ego, czyli Sandmana. Na jego debiutancki album "Witchcraft" (czyli "Czary") polowałem od dawna.Jedynym znanym mi wcześniej utworem z tego albumu był "Ghostrider (Time Tunnel Remix)"; ten track pokazał mi coś nowego, a mianowicie kolejne niestandardowe podejście do tematu, coś co tak bardzo skłoniło mnie do kupna tej produkcji. Po cichu liczyłem na przynajmniej zbliżony poziom innych prezentowanych tu tracków. Żeby nie przedłużać - nie myliłem się! "Perfect Stranger" jest mocny i mroczny. "Flight Or Fight" to już goa w wykonaniu Sandmana (wspaniała główna melodia!). "Turtle Beach" to powrót stylem do pierwszego numeru. O remixie "Ghostider" już powiedziałem. Dalej mamy niezły "Shockwave". "Nostradamus (The Prophecy Remix)" to kolejny znakomity utwór, klimatyczny, ciężki, mroczny, czyli to co lubię plus "sandmanowa" otoczka. Przedostatni track to "Bad News (New Way)", też mroczny, ale coś jest nie tak w nim do końca. Debiutancki album Sandmana zamyka "Grzybowa Symfonia" i robi to bardzo dobrze. Styl Sandmana nie każdemu się spodoba, jest to mroczna, agresywna chwilami, oszczędna psychedelia z elementami innych stylów, nie zawsze mamy do czynienia z transowym beatem, dosyć często mamy zamiast niego naprawdę mocarny (w tym znaczeniu, że bardzo głośny w stosunku do reszty) rockowy drum, a bardziej niż często występują hatsy (tworzone też na rockową modłę) - coś wspaniałego, wreszcie ktoś zrobił mi tę
przyjemność, by ten element muzyki trochę wyolbrzymić, ponadto (co może być dla kogoś największą bolączką muzyki Sandmana) w nieoczekiwanych do końca chwilach wszystko nagle się urywa i zaczyna niby od nowa. Wracając jednak już do całości: dziwny to album. Czasem mam niekłamaną ochotę wystawić maksymalną ocenę, jednakże po zastanowieniu nachodzi mnie pytanie: czy cały czas jest tak jak być
powinno w produkcji z notą 10/10? Odpowiedź naprowadziła mnie na taką a nie inną, widoczną na dole, ocenę końcową. Moje "sprzeciw": na pewno przydało by się lepsze dopracowanie niektórych elementów, co do samego albumu to nie mam ochoty wracać do niego tak często - nie zaskakuje już tak jak na początku, stąd chyba moje początkowe wrażenie. Myślę, że gdyby Infected Mushroom wydali płytę w 1998 roku (czyli rok wcześniej niż "The Gathering") to taka właśnie była by ich muzyka. (Źródło)

Avatar and Pro File proudly announce the re-release of one of the most important and rare albums in psychedelic trance ever: 'Witchcraft' by Sandman. Originally released on Tsuyoshi Suzuki's label Matsuri.Behind Sandman stands Itzik Levi, a talented young guy from Tel Aviv. Itzik actually wrote 'Witchcraft' when he was 19 years old only! Eventually Itzik was the first Israeli artist to be signed on a none local label at that time.'Witchcraft' came out back in 1998. The album has instantly picked up a great deal of interest and demand since there was a huge expectation for an album from Sandman. Unfortunately the album was not available anywhere in the world, since a short time after its release Matsuri has stopped its activity. The album became a big issue and everyone was trying to set a had on a copy...Itzik started making music around the age of 13 at home with one synthesizer, and one year later bought his first sampler. He joined Rami Shapira (Chakra), whom he met through a mutual friend who was the bass player with Orphand Land (Itzik's metal band). They started working together on some tracks under the name Witchcraft.Sandman is the duke of darkness, his music cuts like a knife, a psychedelic orchestra that is backed by a mass of samples that carry secret messages. Sandman has an impressing resume behind him with releases on Matsuri, Symbiosis, BNE, Hadshot Haheizar, Blue Room, TIP and more. 'Witchcraft' is eternal, the peak of Sandman's musical carrier and is considered Phenomenal. The fact that it was nowhere to be found made it even more ''most wanted'' in different corners of the world. This fine album includes some of Sandman's best tracks like 'Shockwave' and 'Nostradamus' (written with DJ Bansi/GMS). This special Avatar edition features a bonus additional unreleased track titled 'Faith' that is not available anywhere else. This track was written at the same time Sandman was working on the album but it never saw the light of day. The lucky ones that go to see Sandman perform live will probably recognize this track.... Avi Algranati is responsible for the mastering here as well as additional engineering work on the album, what upgrades the sound to a stage of perfection. The artwork on the album is identical to the original and features the original amazing painting by Alex Gray.'Witchcraft' has been rated worldwide as one of the biggest, timeless classic to come out of Israel.(Source)
