Lynyrd Skynyrd to amerykański zespół southern-rockowy, którego początki sięgają 1964. Utworzona w 1965 w Jacksonville na Florydzie. Początkowo znana jako The Wild Thing, The Noble Five i One Per Cent. W 1972 przyjęła nazwe Lynyrd Skynyrd (zniekształciła imię i nazwisko znienawidzonego nauczyciela - Leonarda Skinnera). Największe sukcesy grupa odnosiła w latach 70. pod przewodnictwem wokalisty i twórcy tekstów Ronniego van Zanta. 20 października 1977 w katastrofie lotniczej zginęli Ronnie van Zant, gitarzysta Steve Gaines i wokalista Cassie Gaines, a pozostali członkowie zespołu odnieśli poważne obrażenia. It's hard to determine the better album of the two, but both proved to be a solid one-two punch that made Lynyrd Skynyrd one of the '70s' biggest (and unfortunately, most tragic) rock bands.
