Jus Allah jest jedną z najbardziej kontrowersyjnych postaci amerykańskiego underground'u. Wszytko za sprawą jego głośnego odejścia z grupy Jedi Mind Tricks na początku 2002 roku. Tuż po tym wydarzeniu, w jednym z wywiadów, oskarżył swoich byłych współtowarzyszy z zespołu - Vinnie Paz'a i Stoupe'a - o homoseksualizm. Niesforny raper nie zamierzał na tym poprzestać. Oliwy do ognia dolał utwór „White Nightmare”, w którym pojawiły się obraźliwe sformułowania na tle rasowym, mające o wiele szersze grono adresatów, na co zresztą wskazuje tytuł.

Dla wielu fanów hiphopu Jus Allah stał się przegrany. Życie jednak bardzo lubi korzystać z elementu zaskoczenia, co sprawia, że jest pełne nieoczekiwanych zwrotów i zaskakujących sytuacji. Najświeższym tego przykładem jest zażegnanie konfliktu między zwaśnionymi stronami i powrót Jus Allah'a w szeregi Jedi Mind Tricks. Ponadto, Jus podpisał także osobną umowę z wytwórnią Babygrande na wydanie swojego solowego albumu, który już 7 czerwca trafi do słuchaczy.

Tytuł płyty „All Fates Have Changed” odnosi się pośrednio do wcześniejszych wydarzeń. Krążek miał pierwotnie zawierać 13 utworów, jednak później uzupełniono go 5 bonusowymi track'ami, które powstały na przestrzeni ostatnich lat. Wśród nich znajduje się również feralny „White Nightmare”.

„Niektóre z moich utworów są bardziej agresywne, ale to nie znaczy, że oddają moje ogólne nastawienie do określonych spraw. Właściwie to mógłbym powiedzieć, że to był tylko jeden utwór itd. Natomiast, jeśli mam być zupełnie szczery - to rzeczywiście przy pisaniu tego tekstu towarzyszyły mi takie myśli i uczucia. Chodziłem do szkoły, gdzie większość uczęszczających była Biała. Dlatego wiem, co znaczy stanie po 'drugiej stronie', bo Czarni należeli tam do mniejszości. Czułem nieodpartą potrzebę, żeby napisać ten tekst i oddać w nim to, co wtedy czułem. Dzięki Islamowi zrozumiałem swój błąd. Upływ czasu powoduje, że niektóre rzeczy ulegają zmianom. Tak naprawdę wtedy problemem było tylko nastawienie” - wyjaśnia artysta.

Wbrew możliwości, jaka się pojawiła w związku z powrotem Jus Allah'a do JMT na „All Fates Have Changed” nie znajdziemy ani Vinnie Paz'a, ani Stoupe'a. Są za to: GZA, Shabazz The Disciple, Lord Jamar (Brand Nubian), Agallah (kiedyś jako 8-Off), Evil Dead, Chief Kamachi (Juju Mob), Virtuoso oraz T-Ruckus.

An original member of Jedi Mind Tricks, Jus Allah was part of their classic Violent By Design album. He fell out with Vinnie Paz and the subsequent JMT albums never had the spark that made Violent so great. Unfortunately this seems to be a problem on Jus Allah’s long awaited debut.

All Fates Have Changed has been a long time coming, as such a lot of water has passed under the bridge. He has mended his ties with Vinnie Paz, fuelling much excitement for future collabs, and also somewhat diluting the anger of his solo LP. Now don’t get me wrong, Jus Allah is still a very angry young man - he dislikes a lot of things and is more than happy to tell us why - it’s just I think there is no better sort of anger filled track than one designed to crush a rap foe.

But enough of that and on to the album. It is solid without being outstanding, good enough to own, yet not good enough to call a classic. The beats are from a stable of producers ranging from Purple City’s Agallah, through to unheralded producers Ray Fernandez and Zac Johnson - the latter of which provides the best beats of the album. All beats are quite dark, somewhat plodding in bass, but elevated with the additions of haunting samples, keys and melodies giving that distinct underground sound made famous by JMT’s Stoupe. In fact Stoupe is exactly what is missing here for me, his polish perhaps would have given this album the lift it needed.

Lyrically you know exactly what you are getting with anything from the JMT family - blood, guts, violence, bravado and angst - things here are no different. Sure Jus Allah is never going to be considered a revolutionary lyricist, but he has his niche and he does what he does well. All of that is fairly complimentary, so now here's my problem... as a solo MC I never thought Jus Allah or Vinnie Paz had the presence to control an entire album, their style and skill level demands at least one other MC to work off. That is exactly what this album proves. Tracks with guest MCs such as Pool Of Blood with GZA, Important Shit with Lord Jamar, and Agallah & Supreme with Chief Kamanchi and Bomshot are hot - whilst solo cuts Supreme, Cant Sleep and Chess Ring are ok... yet not up to the standard you know Allah is capable of.

Basically this is a solid album and worth buying for fans of Allah and his style. It just lacks the appeal that will have you coming back in 3 years for another listen. What it does prove is when Jus Allah has another MC to work with he is brilliant, making the prospect of a reunited JMT all the more tantalizing.
