Opis:
Gogol Bordello to zaiste dziwny zespół. Podczas, gdy zostaliśmy ostatnio zasypani lawiną folkowo-punkowych pijackich zespolików udających muzykę irlandzką i szkocką, to Gogol właśnie nawiązuje całkowicie do ukraińskich korzeni. To coś naprawdę oryginalnego. Polecam.

Description:
There are some bands who make albums that I can kinda get into and throw in my CD player or on my turntable, when I want to rock out to a certain band. Then there are bands who make music I can listen to no matter what mood or situation I am in, Gogol Bordello has made such an album this time out. In case you haven't heard this band before, they combine elements of older punk (The Birthday Party, Iggy and The Stooges) and Ukranian Gypsy Music. Not only do they combine these two style, they do it better than anyone since the Pouges.
This album is one of the heaviest punk albums, not released in the 80s, that I've heard. Yet, it never crosses over into metal or even whatever passes for hardcore these days. This album takes hardcore punk and puts violin over, and makes it work ... and not like Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly do on select songs. Every song on this album is equal parts Eugene Hutz's (the frontman) native Ukranian music as it is punk rock when it was at its peak.
In short this album does what very few punk albums in the past decade or so have done, it paints an honest picture both lyrically and musically of how Eugene Hutz and his band mates felt in the studio and while they were writing the album. And with Steve Albini (maybe one of the the 5 greatest producers ever) mixing this whole thing together you don't get the sleek overly inspected Pro Tools version.
If you like great music, forget about genres and pick this thing up. If you want to experience Gogol Bordello in all their splendor, see them live.
