Healing Properties

Antispasmodic (spasmolytic)


Apigenin is a flavonoid contained in the aqueous extract of Chamomile. This flavonoid has demonstrated significant anxiolytic activity.[1]


  • The methanolic extract of M. recutita demonstrated significant neuroprotective activity.[1:1]
    • Protected the brain against aluminum fluoride-induced oxidative stress.[1:2]


Adverse Affects


At doses in excess of 50 and 100 mg/kg the essential oil of M. recutita resulted in a significant increase in the numbers of spontaneous locomotor activities, inducing anxiogenic activity (causing anxiety).[1:3]

Disease / Symptom Treatment


M. chamomilla significantly reduced Depression Rating scores over time.[1:4]

  • M. chamomilla has been shown clinically effective for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).[1:5]
