Akcja gry dzieje się na odseparowanej wyspie z trzema innymi myśliwymi. Atutami gry Ultimate Duck Hunting jest jej atmosfera, w tle słychać kwaczące kaczki, a po trafieniu w cel pełno piór unosi się w powietrzu. W grze mam dostępne różne rzeczy, np. Shotgun'y, przynęty, a także pomoc wiernego przyjaciela człowieka, czyli psa. Pies może wykonywać wydawane przez nas komendy ( np. siat, idź w lewo, w prawo, cofnij się, zostań itd. ). Sześć bardzo realistycznych lokacji aż rojących się od kaczek. System liczący punkty polega na tym, ile oddamy celnych strzałów, im więcej takich tym więcej punktów. Cały wykaz pokazany jest na końcu polowania. Niektóre trafione kaczki nie umierają, a są bardzo osłabione i mogą nawet uciec, o ile znajdą się blisko wody. Wtedy przychodzi nam na pomoc pies, o ile go mamy ze sobą. Jednak aby był w pełni sił musi dużo odpoczywać.

Dog-training in essential commands (remote sit, left over, right over, and back). Six realistically detailed locales teeming with wild ducks. Scoring system based upon the number of birds shot, the number of birds retrieved, and the time it takes to complete your hunt. Fallen ducks that are not dead, but are merely wounded and can swim. Dogs that tire and must be rested to compete effectively. Dog fights over the same duck. The ability to out-maneuver your fellow hunters and intercept their returning dogs with the prized ducks.
