Wu-Tang Clan to grupa hip hopowa, wywodzącą się ze Staten Island, Nowy Jork, USA (zwrot "Shaolin" w ich utworach odnosi się do Staten Island).

Grupa składała się z dziewięciu MC (obecnie z ośmiu, w wyniku śmierci Ol' Dirty Bastard w 2004), z których każdy wydał własne albumy. Grupa zapoczątkowała powstanie wielu innych grup, ich celem było przejęcie kontroli nad społeczeństwem hip-hopu.

Styl grupy wciąż podlega ewolucji, a solowe albumy różnią się pomiędzy sobą stylem i treścią, mimo tego jednak grupa jest dobrze znana z surrealistycznych rytmów, agresywnych treści wypełnionych metaforami, nawiązywaniem do życia w Nowym Jorku oraz aluzji do chińskiego folkloru i filmów kung-fu.

Każdy z członków zespołu wydał wiele albumów, zakładali własne składy, występowali gościnnie na innych płytach, ale żaden nigdy nie zapomniał i nie wyparł się pochodzenia i przynależności do Wu-Tang Clanu. Ich dorobek płyt jest ogromny, żadna ekipa hip-hopowa nie wydała takiej ilości albumów, kompilacji.

W sierpniu 2006 roku RZA ogłosił, że zespół ma nowego członka. Został nim Cilvaringz - holenderski raper wywodzący się z grupy Lin Brotherz.

The Wu-Tang Clan are an influential American hip hop group. Five of the nine members are from Brooklyn, New York, with the other four from Staten Island. Known for their lyrical dynamism and the pioneering sample-based production of the RZA, the Wu-Tang Clan's music draws upon a variety of far-flung and often obscure cultural sources, including Five Percenter religious lore, Hong Kong action cinema, comic books, samurai-genre film, and local slang.

The group started with just three members, RZA, GZA and Ol' Dirty Bastard, known as All In Together Now.[1] The group later added six members, and featured nine MCs until the death of Ol' Dirty Bastard in 2004. In 1993 the group released its seminal debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), and went on to release numerous solo albums from all nine members, many of which are now considered hip hop classics.

Wu-Tang Clan derives its name from the 1981 martial arts movie, Shaolin and Wu Tang.
