Your Memorial is an American Christian metalcore band from the Twin Cities of Minnesota. The group is currently under contract with Facedown Records. Its debut studio album, Seasons, was released in 2008. In 2010, the band released its second studio album, Atonement. Its third studio album, Redirect, was released in 2012.

Background

The band started in the Twin Cities of Minnesota in 2008. Its current members are vocalist Blake Suddath, bassist Mike "Skip" Helms, drummer Tommy Weigel, and lead guitarist Willy Weigel.[1]

Music history

In 2008 the band released Seasons.[2] This attracted the attention of Facedown Records, which signed the band before the release of Atonement in 2010.[3] In 2012, the band released its second studio album, Redirect.[4] The album also had success on two Billboard charts: Christian Albums and Heatseekers Albums.[5]

Style

Music critics have placed the band's compositions into various genres, including soft mathcore,[6] melodic hardcore,[6] progressive metal,[2] and the harder subsets crossover thrash,[7] hardcore punk,[8] metalcore,[9] and screamo.[7] Others have characterized the group as an avant-garde metal band that utilizes some post-hardcore elements.[7][9] The band itself regards its music as Christian metal for its sacred elements and heavy metal for the holistic, encompassing totality of its sound.
