Virginio Simonelli (Italian pronunciation: [virˌd͡ʒiːnjo simoˈnɛlːi], also known as Virginio, (born 31 January 1985 in Fondi, Lazio, Italy) is an Italian pop singer. In 2010 Virginio took part in the 10th edition of the Italian talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi, in which he became winner.

Biography

After studying graphic at Accademia delle Belle Arti in Milan, he comes into contact with the manager of a record company, Ivo Grasso (his teacher) with whom he began to collaborate. [1]

In 2006 he took part in the 56th Sanremo Music Festival with his song "Davvero" and later he published his songs "Instabile" and "Novembre", but they were not successful. On October 2, 2010, he took part in the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi and on March 6, 2011, he won. On March 8 he published his second studio album Finalmente and his songs "Ad occhi chiusi" and "Sale" with their music videos. The album has sold over 30,000 copies and it was certified gold.[2]

In 2013 Simonelli wrote the song "Limpido" with Laura Pausini. The song is sung by Pausini and Australian singer Kylie Minogue.
