Vijay P. Parashar

Biography

Vijay P. Parashar, BDS, MDS, DDS, is an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist currently working as Faculty at Midwestern University, Glendale, AZ.^[1][2][3] Prior to joining Midwestern University as Associate Professor, Dr Parashar was the Assistant Professor of Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences at University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit Michigan. Dr Parashar has been the winner of 2006 Howard R. Raper and 2012 William H Rollins Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Awards given by American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.^[4] Dr Parashar has received Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, Master of Dental Science from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, Certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal.^[5][6] Dr Parashar is on the scientific editorial board of peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Oral Health and Community, India Dentistry,^[7] International Journal of Oral Implantology and Clinical Research, India,^[8] and American Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, USA.^[9] Dr Parashar's positions with ADEA include,:^[10][11] Chair 2010 – 2011, Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Section, Chair-elect 2009 – 2010, Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Section and Secretary 2008 – 2009, Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Section. Dr. Parashar is currently serving on the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) Oral Radiology Review Committee; ADEA Council of Faculties; National Board Dental Test Construction Committee and is a CODA Site Visitor.

Awards and Fellowship

Dr Parashar has been awarded highly prestigious academic awards and high selective fellowship in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and Dentistry, respectively.

• William H. Rollins Award Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Award (Awarded year 2012): Dr Parashar was awarded William H Rollins Award in 2012.^[12] William H Rollins Award is a very prestigious academic award in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. The William H. Rollins Award for research in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology has been established to recognize an individual with an outstanding body of research.^[13][14]

• Fellow, Pierre Fauchard Academy, The International Honorary Dental Organization (Awarded 2012): In 2012, two new Fellows were inducted into the highly selective Pierre Fauchard Academy: Dr. Vijay P. Parashar, an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist and Associate Professor at Midwestern University, and Dr. Robert D. Carpenter, Assistant Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Midwestern University.^[15] The Pierre Fauchard Academy, founded in 1936, is an international honor dental organisation, which is composed of fellows who have distinguished themselves in their commitment to and support of educational and research activities within the dental profession. The membership is made of dentists who are among the most outstanding leaders in various fields of dentistry. Fellowship is by invitation only. Requirements to be considered for active fellowship shall be limited to dentists known for their ethical standards that have made outstanding contributions to the art and science of dentistry or to society.^[16][17][18]

• Howard R. Raper Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology Award (Awarded year 2006) Dr Parashar was awarded Howard R. Raper Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Award in 2006.^[19] Howard R. Raper Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Award is a highly prestigious, major academic award in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.^[20] The criteria for judging the nominees for this award is based on academic achievement in the graduate or postgraduate program and on potential and interest in oral and maxillofacial radiology. The award includes a certificate and a monetary reward. Monetary award is provided by the Dentsply Corporation, Rinn Division through the Academy and Howard Riley Raper Fund from Indiana University School of Dentistry, USA.
