The Best of Me (Kenny Rogers song)

"The Best of Me" is the title of a 1985 song by Kenny Rogers, produced by George Martin and composed by David Foster, Jeremy Lubbock & Richard Marx for Rogers' hit 1985 RCA album The Heart of the Matter. It was later covered by Cliff Richard, who has (incorrectly) claimed the song was written for him. His version reached the UK top ten, peaking at #2 in 1989.[1] It was a milestone single for Richard, being his 100th released. Foster himself had a hit with the song in 1986, performing it as a duet with Olivia Newton-John.
