TCS IT Wiz

TCS IT Wiz is India's largest[1][2] inter-school IT quiz competition, held every year in India & UAE by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Launched in 1999, it is a quiz aimed at students studying between class 8-12.

This quiz has been conducted by Giri Balasubramanium, popularly known as PickBrain. He is the CEO of Greycaps, an on-stage quizzing and knowledge service provider company based in Bangalore, India.

TCS IT Wiz is one of the most popular inter-school quizzing circuit in India. It draws more than 15,000 students annually nationwide.[3]

History

In 1999, The TCS IT Quiz, as it was called before is an initiative of the Tata Consultancy Services, conducted for the first time in Bangalore. Then in 2000, it spread into six other major cities. Since 2011, it is being held in 14 cities, followed by a national finals . The finals of 2012 edition were held on 8 December 2012 with New Era Public School, Delhi winning the national crown. The finals of 2013 edition were held on 15 December 2013 in Taj Land's End, Mumbai with Modern School, Barakhamba Road winning the champions. The finals of 2014 edition were held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai with the winners being P.S. Senior Secondary School. The current national champions are Adnan Azmat and Shadan Kalam from Rajendra Vidyalaya, Jamshedpur.

The winners of the Mega Finals 2014 Edition are Abhinav Sridharan and Arjun Aravind, P.S.Senior Secondary School, Chennai and the runners-up are Krishnendu Mohapatra and Dibyendu Mishra, DAV Public School, Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar.

2013 Edition

The 2013 National Champions were Naman Dhanuka and Apratim Chandra Singh from Modern School, Barakhamba Road.[14]
