Synej is a village and a former rural municipality situated in the central plains of Albania's Western Lowlands region. It is part of Tirana County. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality Kavajë.[1] The population at the 2011 census was 5,034.[2] As one of the larger localities in the district it offers outside visitors plenty of sightseeing attractions.[3]

Përroi i Darçit streams through the lowlands from east to west. Hajdaraj Reservoir is the main water resource for the community of this area. One other valuable resource is the former military zone known as "Kalaja e Turrës" in the village of Bardhor. The most popular nearby beach "Plazhi i Gjeneralit" is located in Peqinaj. Tourism landscape here has been well complimented by the construction of wooden cabins. The beach provides vacationers a level of tranquility and clean air that is unfound in larger urban areas.
