Swingin' For The Fences was the first album by the supergroup Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band. Released in 2001, the album quickly became one of the most popular jazz albums of the last 20 years. The album features many acclaimed players and soloists. The tracks are:

Many of the songs composed for this album were based on compositions by a variety of jazz legends.

• "Sing, Sang, Sung" being based on "Sing, Sing, Sing" as recorded by Benny Goodman
• "Swingin' For The Fences", which is based on Sammy Nestico's arrangement of "Sweet Georgia Brown".
• "Bach 2 Part Invention in D minor" is a jazz adaptation of J. S. Bach's 2-part invention in D minor, originally published in Inventions and Sinfonias (BWV 772-801). On the Swingin' For The Fences album, the soloists are Eddie Daniels on clarinet, Gordon Goodwin on piano, and Bernie Dresel on drums. In the audio commentary of the album, Goodwin describes the "Bach 2 Part Invention in D minor" as his favorite and best-composed track.
