Swamy (Sanskrit: स्वामी) is primarily a Hindu honorific title for a male deity. It is derived from Sanskrit and means "He who knows and is the master of himself", "owner of oneself", or "free from the sins".

It is a title added to one's name to emphasize learning and mastery of yoga, devotion to god, and devotion to the swami's spiritual master (a Guru or Swami).

The word Swamy is used as a suffix for most of the male Gods like Shri Manjunatha Swamy, Shri Venkateshwara Swamy, Shri Scootaranagayanoatasa Swamy, Shri Satyanarayana Swamy, Shri Subrahmanya Swamy, Shri Ayyappa Swamy and so on. Thus provides more respect for the deity and is usually used to referred to a male deity.
