He is the inventor of Misr Veena.[1]

Career

Suvir started learning Tabla, Sitar and Khayal form of music an early age of 12. He took his training on the rudra veena from Zia Fariduddin Dagar and simultaneously studied dhruapd vocal from Nirmalya Dey.[4] He took guidance in Gwalior Khayal Gayaki from K.N.Ienger and learnt Sitar from N.R.Rama Rao. He studied Tabla from Bandu Khan of Ajarada Gharana. Suvir Misra found inspiration in Veena from S. Balchandarof the Karnatic tradition

Being dissatisfied with the older themes of the classical music, Suvir Mistra started experimenting in the contemporary themes. He believes that older themes have lesser importance to the modern Indian living and to popularize the classical music, contemporary themes should be used. For this he introduced modern Hindi mukta chhanda poetry within Dhrupad composition structure, and also used newer themes in Hindi literature instead of traditional Awadhi language or Braj Bhasha.[1]
