Sutturu or Suttur is a village in Mysore district of Karnataka in India. Suttur Mutt is one of most prominent spiritual centers of the Lingayath community of India.

Location

Suttur is located in Nanjangudu Taluk of Mysore district.[1] Suttur is 28 km from Mysore by road.[2]

History

Suttur Mutt has a history of 1,000 years. Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara Mahavidyapeetha established this ashram in 1954. Suttur Mutt runs more than 300 educational institutions in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Some of the schools are located in north India and outside the country. The present Pontiff Jagadguru Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji is the President of Mahavidyapeetha.[3]
