Lists Hospitals in England

St Michael's Hospital is a hospital in Bristol, England. Built in 1974, St Michael's houses maternity services covering the south of Bristol.

Services

The midwifery staff provide choices to pregnant women, when deciding how best their pregnancy, labour and post-labour care is delivered. The hospital is home to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which cares for sick and premature babies from across the South West region of England and South Wales. The hospital also provides gynaecology services.[1] Other services such as ENT and Clinical Genetics are on the site.[2]

Patients coming to St Michael's are offered support from the Chaplaincy team. There is a quiet room for use by all denominations.[3] Psychologists support families in the Neonatal Unit and also those learning to live with cancer.

Services are almost entirely 24 hours. There is no A&E department.[1]

The Cots for Tots Appeal

The Cots for Tots Appeal was set up in 2007 by Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal to support special care babies at the hospital. The appeal is raising £1 million to provide four intensive care cots and a new intensive care suite at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit along with a family accommodation suite.[4]
