Smartbox Ecommerce Solutions Private Limited (commonly known as Smartbox) is an Indian technology company focusing on the last mile delivery part of the Indian E-commerce industry. Smartbox provides automated parcel delivery terminals that are a part of the click & collect model.[1][2][3]

History

The company was started by Amit Sawhney and Vineet Sawhney on October 2015. In January, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced a partnership by installing 10 Smartbox Automated Parcel Delivery Terminals at its 10 busiest metro stations.[4][5] In February 2016, Yes Bank announced a partnership with Smartbox to further solve the last mile delivery challenges for the Indian E-Commerce Industry by helping reduce the delivery returns.[6][7]

Operations and Services

Smartbox is essentially a network of automated parcel delivery terminals which are located at various locations. Customers can shop online at any of Smartbox's E-commerce partner site and select Smartbox as their delivery location at the time of checkout. Once their package is delivered at the Smartbox terminal, they will be notified by SMS and email with OTP. Then they may walk up to that Smartbox terminal and use the OTP to collect their parcel. Smartbox's solution addresses that by first eliminating ‘last mile’ from the equation and, secondly, automating the consumer experience of accepting deliveries and making cash-on-delivery (CoD) cashless.[8] Every Smartbox terminal has 52 lockers in small, medium and large sizes. The terminal is completely automated and compact, occupying only 1.5 square meters.[9]
