Shendurjana Ghat is a town of Warud Tehsil, Amravati district, Maharashtra, India.

Demographics

At the 2001 India census,[1] Shendurjana Ghat had a population of 27,081. Males constituted 52% of the population and females 48%. Shendurjana had an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 79%, and female literacy 70%. In Shendurjana, 12% of the population were under 6 years of age.

Importance

1) It is the place where the 'shendur' , 'kunku' colours are created, due to this it is named as SHENDURJANA. Nearby Shendurjana, in between Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh border there are many turnings (Ghats)in Satpuda hill, so suffixed as GHAT. 2) In last century ie. Twentieth century the farmers were cultivating Turmeric on large scales which was used to produce good quality of Kumkum ie. Shendur used in Puja and to apply on fore head of married women. 3) Orange fruit production is the main business of farmers. Almost all farmers are Orange and Panheri producers. 4) It is the only place where the "Panheri" or Orange plant saplings are cultivated and sold. 5) The Fruit Orange cultivated in nearby Shendurjana-Ghat area is famous all over India for their sweet and tangy Sour taste which is very much liked by North Indians. Almost more than 70% of the cultivated orange is consumed by them. The whole Orange business depends on the weather in North India during season. 6) The Special type of Beans ie. Waal named Dudhmogra is cultivated by farmers in this town and much liked by natives of town in their meals. The dish named Sole - Wange is very much popular. 7) It was the biggest market of CHILLIES all over Maharashtra. Because of lower market value of Chillies and higher labour wages farmers left growing chillies. 8) One of the Seven temples of "Mata Balasundari" (Childhood Avatar of "Maa Vaishno devi") in all over India, is located in Balapeth Area of Shendurjana Ghat. 9) Nagar Parishad or Municipal council of Shendurjana Ghat is older than that of Warud. 10) Shendurjana Ghat, Warud and Morshi are three Nagar Palikas included in one Vidhansabha Matadarsangha (Morshi-Warud Constituency). Only constituency in Maharashtra including three Nagar Palika. 11) The air of the Town is clean and pollution free due to Irrigation of Green Orange Farms.
