Shahir AF8, or Ahmad Shahir Zawawi, (born 5 September 1988 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia), is a Malaysian singer, who rose to fame after winning the eighth season of Akademi Fantasia.
Shahir made history when he became the first winner of "Akademi Fantasia" who previously got eliminated and then accepted back in through AFMASUK.
Biography
Early life
Shahir's father, Mr. Zawawi Abdullah (54 years old) is a teacher by profession, while his mother, Mrs. Mahanum Othman (45 years old) is a full-time housewife and baby-sitter. Shahir is the first child out of 5 siblings. This young singer from Kampar, Perak is currently residing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Shahir studied at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampar, Kampar, Perak from Year 1 until Year 6 and then at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Slim River, Slim River, Perak from Form 1 until Form 5. Prior to his audition in Akademi Fantasia, Season 8, Shahir was an engineering student at Centre of Foundation Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia. He is also former member of nasyid group, Saujana.
Akademi Fantasia 2010
Shahir competed against twelve other contestants in the running to win the 8th season of Akademi Fantasia.
Shahir remained safe from elimination from the first week up to the sixth week, but he was eliminated after receiving the least number of votes in Week 7. In the Week 8th concert, AFMASUK was introduced and during the Debaran Concert, he was voted back in after receiving the highest number of votes. At the end of the final concert, he was crowned the winner of the Season 8, beating 4 other students. He took back the winner's crown from seventh season's champion, Hafiz.
Shahir became the first student in the history of Akademi Fantasia to be crowned champion after being eliminated before and then voted back in as a student of Akademi Fantasia via AFMASUK.
