Biography

Early life

Guemmour was born in Frankfurt to Amazigh parents from Morocco and Algeria.[2] She grew up in the housing estate of Frankfurt-Nordweststadt. Senna Guemmour's father died in 1992. Shaped by her life in the urban area, Guemmour became interested in hip hop culture and music.

Career

In 2003, Senna Guemmour auditioned for the television show Popstars – Das Duell but was eliminated during the callback. In 2006, she auditioned again, this time for Popstars – Neue Engel braucht das Land where she made it throughout the entire competition and became a member of the girl group Monrose. Monrose turned out to be very popular reaching two number-one hits on the German Singles Charts ("Shame" and "Hot Summer") and landing six top-ten hits as of mid-2008.

Guemmour acts as a spokesperson for Monrose, dominating the interviews and cutting the other band members short. From time to time she does solo projects such as the single "Melodie (Kool Savas song)" from rapper Kool Savas' album Tot oder Lebendig and her appearance on Dieter Falk's album Volkslieder with the track "Kein Schöner Land".

On 9 September 2008 Guemmour, along with Oliver Petszokat, hosted the German edition of The Singing Bee on television channel ProSieben. Furthermore, she is a jury-member of the German talentshow "Mascerade".
