Sandy Civic Center is a light rail station in Sandy, Utah, United States serviced by the Blue Line of Utah Transit Authority's TRAX light rail system. The Blue Line provides service from Downtown Salt Lake City to Draper. Prior to the opening of the Draper extension in 2013 this station was the southernmost on the Blue Line.

Description

The station is located at 115 East Sego Lily Drive (9800/10000 South) ^[1] and is easily accessed from State Street (US-89) by heading east on Sego Lily Drive or from 700 East (SR-71) by heading west on Sego Lilly Drive. The station is just southeast of Jordan High School on a hill overlooking Sandy's downtown area to the west, but major downtown destinations such as Sandy's City Hall and the South Towne Center mall are between a quarter mile and a mile away. The hillside itself still has many undeveloped open fields. Suburban residential areas and a park are just east of the station, as well as the Porter Rockwell Trail (Sandy Railtrail). The station has a free Park and Ride lot with nearly 1,200 free parking spaces available,^{[1][Note 1]} however, the East Jordan Canal runs through the lot creating a slight barrier between sections of the lot. The station opened on 4 December 1999 as part of the first operating segment of the TRAX system ^[3] and is operated by the Utah Transit Authority.

All of UTA's TRAX and FrontRunner trains and stations, streetcars and streetcar stops, and all fixed route buses are compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act and are therefore accessible to those with disabilities.^[6] Signage at the stations, on the passenger platforms, and on the trains clearly indicate accessibility options. Ramps on the passenger platform and assistance from the train operator may be necessary for wheelchair boarding on Blue Line (weekdays only). These ramps are not used on weekends. In accordance with the Utah Clean Air Act and UTA ordinance, "smoking is prohibited on UTA vehicles as well as UTA bus stops, TRAX stations, and FrontRunner stations".^[7]

Train schedule

On weekdays the first southbound Blue Line train (to the Draper Town Center Station) leaves Midvale Center at about 4:45 am and the first southbound train (to the Salt Lake Central Station) leaves Station at about 5:00 am. The last southbound train leaves at 11:26 pm and last northbound train leaves at 11:51 pm. However, the last northbound train only goes as far north as the Fashion Place West Station; the last northbound train to the Salt Lake Central Station leaves at 10:36 pm.^{[Note 2]}

On Saturdays the first southbound train leaves at about 6:15 am and the first northbound train leaves at about 6:30 am. The last southbound train leaves at 11:35 pm and the last northbound train leaves at 11:56 pm. However, the last northbound train only goes as far north as the Central Pointe Station; the last northbound train to the Salt Lake Central Station leaves at 10:36 pm.^{[Note 2]}

On Sundays the first southbound train leaves at about 10:00 am and the first northbound train to Salt Lake Central leaves at 6:36 am. The last southbound train leaves at 8:35 pm and the last northbound train leaves at 8:56 pm. However, the last northbound train only goes as far north as the Central Pointe Station; the last northbound train to the Salt Lake Central Station leaves at 11:56 pm.^{[Note 2]}

Blue Line trains run every fifteen minutes on weekdays and every twenty minutes on weekends.^{[8][9][Note 2]}
